  1. Joseph M. Brown says:

Here is one that came to mind that narrows it down – John 6:28-29
    Common English Bible (CEB)
28 They asked, “What must we do in order to accomplish what God requires?”

29 Jesus replied, “This is what God requires, that you believe in him whom God sent.”

  2. Dave Kinsella says:

The 3 options are not clear enough. There is and there isn’t a method. It’s not like some ritual you must do, whether it is a “sinner’s prayer” or a ritualistic baptism that saves, but there are also clear prerequisites that a person must meet like repentance and faith. Ultimately, salvation is of God and not of any method.

    • Joe Delatte says:

I believe these 5 things must be present for
      salvation to occur.

      1) The Gospel is preached.
      Rom 10:17

      2) The Holy Spirit draws men and shows them
their sinful condition – this is necessary for
      repentance to occur.
      John 16:8

      3) Godly Sorrow then occurs – When you
      acknowledge your sinful condition before
      almighty God, sorrow is experienced.
      2Co 7:10

      4) Repentance follows Godly sorrow.
      Luke 13:3
      2Co 7:10
Repentance in the context of salvation is
simply turning from our righteousness to the
righteousness Christ purchased for us at the cross.
      (See Rom 10:3 below)

      5) Men must freely receive the Gospel of
Jesus Christ which is God’s only remedy
      for our sinful condition.
      Rom 10:9

For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and
going about to establish their own righteousness, have
not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God
      Rom 10:3.
We will never do this until we realize we are helpless
sinners and only Christ dying as our substitute can make
      us right with God.

  3. Mike Renner says:

Romans 3:19-28 19 Now we know that whatever the law says, it says to those who are under the law, that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God. 20 Therefore by the deeds of the law no flesh will be justified in His sight, for by the law is the knowledge of sin. 21 But now the righteousness of God apart from the law is revealed, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, 22 even the righteousness of God, through faith in Jesus Christ, to all and on all[h] who believe. For there is no difference; 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, 25 whom God set forth as a propitiation by His blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance God had passed over the sins that were previously committed, 26 to demonstrate at the present time His righteousness, that He might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus. 27 Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? Of works? No, but by the law of faith. 28 Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith apart from the deeds of the law.

John 3:16-17 16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. 17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.

I don’t believe it involves repentance from sins.I believe the only repentance involved is from thinking I can save myself by the law or any other crazy thing man might dream up. John 16;8&9 says the Holy Spirit will reprove the world of sin for not believing on Jesus.

  4. deborah wilson says:

Depending on what “method” means….But to come to Christ, as the scripture says…We must first believe He is-Only Begotton Son of God, The Way, the Truth, our only hope of Life-Salvation-so…repent(change our mind about sin), confess with our mouth-believe in our heart He died for our sins….if this is “method”-yes.

  5. Joseph Hardy says:

I purchased a copy of your book eternal security. It was awesome!

    • Joseph Hardy says:

Sorry I was supposed to be commenting on how one is to come to Christ. Simply put I repent and believe in Christ and God does the rest. If a changed life occurs then the work is done.

  6. Shay says:

You must be a reborn Christian. GO to the Father, Repent, Then TRY with all
your might to Walk in The Light from then on. Our Father knows we are born of
sin and may mess up again. Then thank him for his Son and ask Jesus to come
into your heart. Everytime I had a question, I would open my Bible and it
will fall open and I look down right to where I need to read. It’s absolutely
incredible how GOD will let you see, if you ask. These are the End Days and only
the Sheep can see, 1/2 of our Nation are Goats and can’t see. I am wondering
if Hawaii is considered to be in the middle of the ocean, could obama be The
Beast From The Sea.This man and his friends are tricking his followers out of
our Country, Blessed America. Strive to be Mediocre is NOT American. Rabbi
Jonathan Cahn, a Levite wrote The Harbingers, he’s opening the Book of Daniel.
GOD is Trying to Talk to America and say come back to me.I Pray we can “Turn
the Herd” as they say in Texas, back to GOD.I see these End Days moving faster
and faster, it’s absolutely unbelievable. Bill Clinton & Tony Blair, along
with the help of these Purpose driven Preachers like Saddleback Church plan
to introduce Islam into our schools, you heard me. It will be called FAce
to Faith. It’s Blasphemy. These men are such heathens they have no idea the
permanent injury they do. 300 Church’s from 32 states, I heard, agreed to do
this thing. It’s Chrislam founded in Africa I believe. It’s awful and we
just sit politely as we lose the Best Country that Ever Existed On Earth.
PRAY PRAY THEN EMAIL SOME GOAT, IN MOST CASES A DEMOCRAT, TO BRING GOD
BACK. We as parents dropped the ball on our kids. We have coast to coast
little pagans. The Christians become athiests in college. Harvard, Duke,
William & Mary, Univ Michigan & Univ CA/Davis ALL hired strippers to put
on a play that mocks Christian Values & America Traditions. The only thing
that happened is the Pres of Wm&Mary got fired. GOD BLESS US. WE INVITED
COMPANY TO COME AND THEY TOOK OVER THE RANCH AND CAN’T EVEN SPELL COW.

  7. Godfrey Ohenhen says:

The only method to come to Christ is to BELIEVE in Him that He is the son of God, and that He died and rose again, to leave for evermore. John 3 verse 16 says,”For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life”
Romans 10 verses 9 – 10 says” That if thou shall confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shall believe in thine heart that God has raised Him from the dead, thou shall be saved. 10. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. There is no other method required to come to Christ, it is not your work but by faith. Romans chapter 4 verse 2 says, “For if Abraham were justified by works, he hath whereof to glory;but not before God.” No one becomes a christian without believing in Jesus Christ.

  8. Because we are sinner’s separated from God by our sins it is very important that we come to Christ with a humble penetent heart surrendering their life to the Lordship of Christ. Without this we will never get God’s attention to
rescue us from darkness and bring us into his marvelous light.
And yes water baptism is an essential part of this as everyone coming to Christ this side of the cross was baptised in water immediately. sorry but this cannot be refuted.
Also, with all these mechanics if we do not receive the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, it is all in vain as it is the Holy Spirit that is the evidence of salvation and adoption as God’s son / daughter. The Holy Spirit abides with the believer as a comforter and helper connecting him with our eternal Father with Jesus and mediator and intercessor. Some may think that what I have said is too complicated but we must take into consideration the seriousness of our sins and that my sins put Jesus on the cross. That innocent lamb without sin who went willingly for me in my place. The pathway to heaven is narrow that only a few find. Matt 7:13-14. The only escape that any of us have from the power of Satan, the power of sin, and the power of our sinful nature aka corruptible flesh is to surrender our lives to Jesus Christ.
Thank you for the opportunity to comment on a subject that is so critically important and dear to my heart.
I hesitantly add this. What I have shared above was seared directly into my heart, mind, and soul years ago at a time in my life when as a broken man I cried out to my Heavenly Father / Jesus to take my life. They did. However, I do not expect everyone to believe this and it could affect my credibility with some.

  9. Paul says:

Jesus said whoso ever will. That means who so ever will let him come . It’s not difficult

  10. ``Ruby Fitch says:

Beleiving that Christ is the son of God, that he died to pay the price for our sins, not his sins. Accecpt the gift of enternal life. Faith !!!

  11. Me says:

How do explain to people that repentance is a “continual state of being”…a mindset of acknowledgment as you move through the day. As you acknowledge your sin (sins), you become more aware of your need for the Savior, and the work Holy Spirit to get you through that day, hopefully decreasing as you go, in sin, but increasing as you go, in grace, and the will of The Lord. This is constant contact, constant fellowship.

  12. Bill Russell says:

Peter answered this question in Act. Believe and Repentance is step no.1. Then be baptized in the name of Jesus and receive the Holy Spirit.

  13. Justin Anderson says:

Yes, in most cases it would be Holy Baptism, which includes one’s profession of faith in God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and in the incarnation, death, resurrection, and coming again of Jesus.

  14. Bob says:

Not withstanding the remarks already made we cannot know the condition of another except that we are to judge their actions and correct them if they are going counter to scripture and Jesus’ teachings; and we are to forgive and witness God’s good news.

  15. Joe Delatte says:

I have used this method for 30 years. It works GREAT! We call it “The Romans Road Plan of Salvation”. Simply explain these 4 things to the person you are witnessing to and make sure he/she understands each point. Then try and have them say a prayer similar to the one below. Make sure they understand what they are doing and do not force them – they MUST be willing.

FOUR THINGS YOU MUST KNOW TO BE SAVED.

    1. YOU ARE A SINNER

    Rom 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
Rom 3:10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:

    2. GOD PUT A PRICE ON SIN

    Rom 6:23 For the wages of sin is death;
Eze 18:20 The soul that sinneth, it shall die.

    3. JESUS PAID THAT PRICE

Rom 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
Rom 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

    4. BY FAITH YOU CAN RECEIVE SALVATION

Rom 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

Father, I confess that I am a sinner. I believe that Jesus died to pay my sin debt and rose again for my complete justification. I receive Him now as my personal Saviour and am trusting only in His atoning work on the cross to make me acceptable to You.

    • Awesome explanation of the Gospel. I hope you don’t mind if I use it. Please everyone, get your congregations and friends and families to vote biblical principles on Tuesday. Our Country depends on it and God requires it! Bless all!!

  16. leroy teske says:

    IS THERE

  17. Dave says:

I f I am wrong I need to be told. I do not believe I am wrong, but that is only a belief and a many people have different ideas or beliefs. I believe that all that is required to be Saved is a belief the Jesus Christ died for our sins and rose three days later. I do not have to do anything but believe and accept this fact. The only method I think is that a person has to confess his sins to God and accept the finishing work of Christ on the cross. You do not have to walk down an isle or be Baptized as a condition of salvation because that would be something that man does and there is nothing that a man can do to receive eternal life. I am not opposed to walking an isle at a service invitation as the elders can help the unsaved come to an understanding of salvation. The question was a method and there is nothing that a person can do or follow to be saved, at least this is my understanding and belief. The percentage of your responses 58% at this time concerns me, not that those are unsaved, but that they may not truly understand our helplessness, that all our righteousness is as filthy rags. We can not please a just God an must receive Jesus with nothing but our faith.

    • leroy teske says:

      I BELIEVE THIS 2

      • God has brought so may I know unto Himself in the most unlikely ways. I AGREE WITH YOU. That doesn’t mean as Leaders in the church that we shouldn’t disciple people in the Word so that they walk in victory. Too many Christians are not walking in the victorious life that Jesus died for and that is primarily our leaders and churches fault.

  18. Eugene says:

After being saved for 30 years, I know that that it happens in different ways, but the essential Gospel remains the same. John 3:16 and the sinners prayer. Romans 10 vs 9 and 10. The whole Bible is the same! Its not so much a method as its the Truth. Jesus is the Truth, and God’s word is the truth. Amen.

  19. Bill Willard says:

    Ephesians 2:8
For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God,(NKJV) if there’s a method this is it!

  20. Mike says:

There seems to be variations on what the method actually means, maybe that’s not the best way to format that question.
This I know to be true, “God is not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.” (2Peter 3:9)
“If we confess our sins He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (1 John 1:9)
The (method), so to speak, is repentance. There are a million different ways on how God brings us to that place.

  21. Joan says:

Yes. In order to be saved one must accept Christ as personal Savior. Therein lies the method… through acceptance. The how, when and where of the acceptance is totally irrelevent.

  22. Tim York says:

just ask the thief on the cross. method is the key word. some might get it confused with criteria. the criteria is always the same, repent and believe. what method you do that in is not the issue.

  23. butch says:

Beleive on the LORD, the chris alone

  24. butch says:

Beleive on the LORD the christ alone.

  25. George says:

I believe there is no “method” just Faith in Jesus the Son of God.
Faith as you know– is a gift and can increase with knowledge of the Savior.
Christ does not force Himself on anyone–its our choice.
    God Bless

  26. Joshua says:

YES!!!YES!!!YES!!! John 14:6 No one comes to the Father but buy me, Jesus said…and there are others that say about the same thing. If Jesus said it then YOU better believe it…

  27. Carole Thomeczek says:

No! Everyone that is saved has their own Born Again story… The Holy Spirit is very creative in His way of bringing each of us to the place of decision, what an awesome place to be… I would love to have that again, and again, the realization of Jesus, and what He did for me… Oh how I love Jesus.

  28. Jerry Ballard USNRet Tulare, CA says:

As individuals, we need to understand that we are sinners and that we have missed the mark according to God’s standards. The Ten Commandments, I can truly say I broke everyone of them and I am the least person that deserves to be in Heaven but I will be there.
Not because of anything I did, but what Jesus Christ did on the cross. He died for my sins and the sins of the whole human race. The Bible tells us that ” For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God Romans 3:10 and that the wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our lord Romans 3:23

When I realized I was a sinner and that there was a wall between me and God, I wanted that wall removed. I wanted fellowship with God and i knew that through Jesus only was that possible. In John 14:6 Jesus says that I am the way the truth and the life, no one comes to the Father but by me

I asked Christ to come into my life and forgive me of my sins and I made him the lord of my life. I acknowledged that He died on the cross for my sins and rose from the dead. II Cor 5:17 tells me that if any man be in Christ, He is a New Creation Old things are passed away and all things are made new.

Even as a Christian, I still sin and blow it at times but i sin less and when I do sin I can come to Jesus in Prayer and ask him to forgive me of my sins and I know he does.
Look at you’re shadow we all have one, let that represent your sin nature because as long as we are still here in Earth, we will be dragging that around with us until we receive our new body when Jesus returns.

The verses I love most is Romans 10:9-10 and John 3:16-17, for that person who does not know Christ these are good verses. Lastly, I am saved and it is not by works but I am saved and i have put my faith in Jesus Christ. I seek to serve him and if i had no interest in that, I would have to question rather I truly know him as Lord.
Sorry for going on so much but the one great thing about being in Christ, is that when we have trials and problems, We have the holy Spirit that helps us and guides and comforts us, and cares.

  29. William says:

    GOD’s way

John 1:13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of GOD.

    BY GOD ALONE

  30. Kathryn Konigsberger says:

It is not so much a method as the criterion laid out in the Bible. You don’t have to do it in a particular place or in front of specific group. It is your interaction with God regarding your sinful nature.

    1) You must confess you are a sinner
    2) You must confess that you can’t save yourself through works
    3) You must confess that Jesus’s shed blood paid the price for your sins.
    4) You must ask God to forgive you through the blood of Jesus and ask Jesus to live and reign in your life.

  31. David says:

I think that the use of the phrase “certain method” was somewhat ambiguous.
The better question would have been, “Is faith the only means or way to Christ?” The answer to this question would reveal how many believe whether or not, it is by grace through faith we are saved, or through our own efforts or works.

The answer if you accept what the Bible says, is that it is through faith. Faith leads to one confessing theirs sins, repentance, seeking forgiveness for sins, and asking Christ to come into one’s heart. It can be answered in one verse, John 3:16.

  32. Bill Philippi says:

Most of the other replies on this are great. I’ve just gone into a little more detail on some points.

Depends on what the questioner is trying to establish. If the question is “Is there a denominational formality that you have to go through a certain religious ritual to be saved”? My answer would probably be no but there is a right way to do it, you must be sorry for your sins, willing to follow Jesus, believe that He was the virgin born sinless Son of God, died on Calvary for our sins, rose again as your risen Lord and Savior. I think then a person that has prayed and asked The Lord to save them should be baptized, as soon as reasonable possible. I do think sometimes there are people born again without a great deal of knowledge about Christainity when they first pray to be saved but they know they are in need of a Savior and that person is Jesus. The Holy Ghost lets them know that much. They might not even be able to pronounce the name Jesus properly but The Lord will hear them.

I would have to know more about the basis the question was asked from to give a firm answer to it. There are so many different methods of doing the same thing. Some would say, you get it when you pray, others let’s dunk him then he’ll be ok, another might say no we’ll sprinkle him, another might just say repeat these words and just trust in your heart then you’ll be saved and again another might say pray through on your knees if it takes all night and then others “Well, this is the way they do it at my church”. A person can be saved driving a car, sitting in a church or a desk at work, even jumping out of an airplane or by saying a thousand different things to the Lord but when it’s all done it is the same work of grace given to mankind as a gift from God.

    Praise his name.

  33. RICK PORTER says:

BY CERTAIN METHOD, I MEAN: ROMANS 10:1-13. ANYONE THAT COMES TO CHRIST MUST COME THROUGH FAITH, BY CONFESSION, BELIEF, AND CALLING ON THE NAME OF THE LORD.

  34. Ron says:

The bible tells us we are drawn or brought to Christ by the Father and the Holy Spirit and that salvation is a free gift. But it also says in Rom 10:13 that those who call on the name of the Lord shall be saved and in John 1:12 Yet to all who received Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God.

  35. Paula says:

    Ephesians 2:8-98
For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith —and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9 not by works, so that no one can boast.
It is God initiated and God completed from start to finish.
Every method of man is a work of man. It is God alone who is the author and finisher of our salvation. Yes, I am a Calvinist.

  36. Robert E. Widby says:

There is a certain method due to the fact that one must DO SOMETHING to receive salvation in Christ. He does the saving, just as He did the sacrifice and defeated sins affect on the believer. Since salvation is FULL AND FREE, meaning one can’t buy it, earn it or automatically receive it. No gift is of any value without being accepted. So the very good news is: One only has to realize he can be cleansed of sins affect on his eternal soul and receiand the gift. “Believe on the Lord, Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved.”
Calling upon His name means you believe in Him as Savior, as the “Way, Truth, and Life”, and that you are sorry for your sin.

  37. Philip Raj DCRUZE says:

Absolutely no methods required for the Christ to come , The method already been set , since Christ Arrive in this World ( Earth ). The way he gone up in the same way he will come , this is the only way .

  38. Kathleen Zetes says:

If we believe that Jesus Christ is God’s only begotten son & died on the cross, he who was without sin although he walked the earth as a man & was tempted & still he did not sin,the final sacrifice, so that we who are of sin would be righteous before God.Not that we deserve it because we are so sinful but because of my Jesus Christ blood that was shed praise the LORD!!!!

  39. DL Kennedy says:

I wish I knew what you meant by method. Do you mean we must follow a prescribed set of routines or traditions? I’d say the answer to that is no, and I think there will be many who think they’ve followed all the right traditions — and who think they’re Christians — yet they don’t know what it means to be born again or to have a personal relationship with Christ. So methods can’t save someone, but, with that said, I still think there are certain duties on our part – such as coming to Christ in faith, (though I think the Holy Spirit must first draw us – even though I’m not a Calvinist), confessing our sins to Him, being baptized, trusting Him for forgiveness, and living a new life in Him. I know we must seek God in spirit and truth — coming to Him through prayer, Bible study, and obedience. Not sure if those things are what you mean by method though.
