| The New Testament as a whole teaches that Jesus is the Jewish Messiah hundreds of times -- every time it refers to the terms "Jesus Christ," "Christ Jesus," or "(the) Christ." Thus, "Jesus" (the Latin form of the Greek Iesous) is a transliteration of the Hebrew Jeshua and means "the Lord (Yahweh) is salvation.
