Three Requirements for Studying Daniel-Introduction: Part 1

Dr. Wayne Barber

If we’re going to study Daniel, there are three requirements that we’re going to have to meet, and if we don’t meet them, we might as well hang it up. We’ll never understand what’s being said in this precious book.

Our God is an Awesome God – Part 1 – Introduction – Part 2

Dr. Wayne Barber

What I’m going to be doing today is to try and give us a setting. I realize these messages are not the kind that makes you want to go to the mission field. I understand. This is just spade work. We’ve got to dig up some dirt here and we’ve to get ourselves ready so that we can see where Daniel fits in to the Scriptures that God has given to us.

Our God is an Awesome God – Part 2 – Introduction – Part 3

Dr. Wayne Barber

There are important kingdoms and world powers that God has raised up and put down. You know what? Let me just share this with you. If our God can do that, do you think He might be able to handle a few things that you’re going through in your life?

Will You Please Make Up Your Mind – Part 1 (Daniel 1:1-5)

Dr. Wayne Barber

Whose side are we on? Have we made up our minds? Many of us come to church on Sunday, we sing, we pray, and we pray, and then Monday through Saturday we live as if we don’t even know the living God that’s to be in control of our life. And I want you to see in the book of Daniel, friend, that kind of lifestyle will get you nowhere.

Will You Please Make Up Your Mind – Part 2 (Daniel 1:6-8)

Dr. Wayne Barber

Daniel and his friends, before they packed their suitcase and left their land, they made up their minds they would not defile themselves. And I think we need to understand that: it wasn’t a decision they made when they got there; they made it before they ever left home.

Will You Please Make Up Your Mind – Part 3 (Daniel 1:8-19)

Dr. Wayne Barber

Daniel and his friends had vowed to obey God, despite the circumstances where they found themselves. But what did they do? How did they proceed? Here is a pagan authority telling them that they’re going to have to do one thing, and yet they’re going to do something else. How would you handle this? What procedure would you have?

Godliness in the Face of Pressure (Daniel 2:1-11)

Dr. Wayne Barber

There are so many practical truths in the book of Daniel. Do you realize that pressure is probably one of the greatest ways of testing godliness? You put a Christian under pressure, you find out a lot about where that person is in his walk with God.

He’s Got the Whole World in His Hands (Daniel 2:28-47)

Dr. Wayne Barber

Have you ever been reading a book and you get so excited about the book you couldn’t stand it and so you skip from the chapter that you were on to the end of the book and you read the last chapter? Now you know how it ends, now you know how it finishes, but if you don’t go back and read the whole book, you’re going to miss a lot of details on how you get from where you were to the end of that book.

Characteristics of Convictions – Part 1 (Daniel 2:48-3:18)

Dr. Wayne Barber

Do you understand conviction? There is a difference in being convinced and being convicted. The Holy Spirit is the only One who can convict our hearts. You can be convinced about something and still never do anything about it. But when a man’s convicted, he is automatically committed and there’ll be action that’ll come out of his life.

Characteristics of Convictions – Part 2 (Daniel 3:19-30)

Dr. Wayne Barber

You and I can be convinced; that’s one thing. Convicted, that’s quite different. A person can be convinced that Jesus Christ is God’s Son and be lost and die in an eternal hell. But a person must be convicted by the Holy Spirit of God and once convicted, he will act out of that conviction.

The Dead End Street Called Pride – Part 1 (Daniel 4:1-18 )

Dr. Wayne Barber

What is God going to have to do to get us down off of our high horse? Pride is a subtle thing and whenever it begins to be a part of our lifestyle, look out! God will not tolerate it. He hates pride. He does not tolerate what man can do. He wants man to understand what only He can do.

The Dead End Street Called Pride – Part 2 (Daniel 4:19-37)

Dr. Wayne Barber

How many of you at times in your life have gone through a real arrogant, proud time and God had to bring you down? And you know, one thing to remember is it can come back on us over and over and over again. Beware of pride! We’re going to see three things about Nebuchadnezzar that maybe can teach us a lesson and help us in our walk with the Lord.

The Dead End Street Called Pride – Part 3 (Daniel 5:1-31)

Dr. Wayne Barber

As far as I can tell, there are only four people in the whole book of Daniel, if you don’t count Nebuchadnezzar, that have humbled themselves before the Lord. And that is Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, giving their Babylonian names, and Daniel. Now these pagan kings are having some hard times, they just won’t bow and they’re getting some hard knocks as a result of it.

How to Live with Pagans and Maintain Your Witness (Daniel 6:1-28)

Dr. Wayne Barber

You know, Daniel only spent one night with the lions and the rest of his time with pagan kings and pagan rulers. I bet if he was here now he would say it was safer with the lions. But, you know, Daniel had what it took: he promised in his heart and determined in his heart that he would not disobey the Lord.

Hand on, Brother, the King is Coming (Daniel 7:1-8; 24-28)

Dr. Wayne Barber

Some of you may wonder, “Why do we go through all this historical stuff in the Word of God? What do I care about Babylon and these other kingdoms?” Well, folks, if you don’t care about those things, then you don’t realize that He’s already told you what He was going to do among those nations and He’s done it. As He has done it here, He’ll also do it as He says in those latter days. So it’s a very personal message.

The Rise, Reign and Ruin of the Little Horn (Daniel 7:8-25)

Dr. Wayne Barber

We want to see the rise, we want to see the reign and we want to see the ruin of the little horn. We’ll begin to look at it today. The little horn: Who is he? What is he or it? What is going on? Is it a person? Is it a kingdom? What is this little horn?

Thy Kingdom Come (Daniel 7:9-14)

Dr. Wayne Barber

Now the first thing I want to share with you is that it ought to be the desire of every believer that God’s kingdom come down to this earth; that Jesus be vindicated.

Just for the One Who Doubts – Part 1 (Daniel 8:1-9)

Dr. Wayne Barber

We’re talking about the fact that many people doubt what God has to say in the book of Daniel. Maybe you’re going through a time right now and God hasn’t really come through like you believe in His Word He’s told you He’s going to come through. Well, friend, hang on. Whatever God says, He is going to do.

Just for the One Who Doubts – Part 2 (Daniel 8:10-14)

Dr. Wayne Barber

I’m going to continue to talk about the message entitled “Just for Those Who Would Doubt.” I believe that’s the only reason chapter 8 is even put in the book of Daniel.

God’s Faithfulness to Israel – Part 1 (Daniel 9:20-24)

Dr. Wayne Barber

So many people cannot understand that God has not finished with Israel. They think that when Jesus came it was all done away with and now it’s just the wheat and the tares growing side by side. But they forget the everlasting covenant made with Abram that Abram was promised not only a seed who was Jesus Christ, not only a land which was Israel, but also he was promised a nation.

God’s Faithfulness to Israel – Part 2 (Daniel 9:25)

Dr. Wayne Barber

Israel as a nation has rejected the Lord Jesus Christ. Jew and Gentile can still come in and Jews do come in as individuals, but as a nation they’ve still rejected Him. But isn’t it wonderful for His covenant faithfulness and His loving kindness that He has not forgotten them and He has a plan for them to be a part of His kingdom?

Three Insights to Prayer – Part 1 (Daniel 10:1-14)

Dr. Wayne Barber

I’m beginning to realize that there is a sincerity and seriousness about prayer that I wonder if I have learned yet. I am learning it. I want to learn it. I want to be in prayer like God wants it to be in my life.

Three Insights to Prayer – Part 2 (Daniel 10:1-21)

Dr. Wayne Barber

Now I want us to see the third aspect of Daniel’s prayer that really has spoken to my own personal heart. And that’s this: the spectacular is rare and isolated when God deals with us in answer to prayer.

A Vision of Conflict – Part 1 (Daniel 11:1-4)

Dr. Wayne Barber

You must understand, Daniel 10, Daniel 11, and Daniel 12 are all together. Man has put in the chapter divisions and many times you think you’ve graduated from one into the other, but it’s all a flow. The vision of great conflict that you begin to see in chapter 10 is illustrated and brought out in chapter 11 and chapter 12, so it’s all a part of one scene.

A Vision of Conflict – Part 2 (Daniel 11:21-35)

Dr. Wayne Barber

I hope you’re seeing in Daniel 11 how sure the Word of God really is. When God says it, He means it, that ought to settle it. Well, that’s the way we are in Daniel 11. There is a lot of room for discussion on many of these verses and you understand, I hope, that I’m approaching this as tenderly and as cautiously as I can having never been a student of prophecy before.

A Vision of Conflict – Part 3a (Daniel 11:36-45)

Dr. Wayne Barber

Daniel had been fasting and praying and asking God to remove His wrath from His people, but Daniel had to understand that Israel had rejected many things of the Lord and particularly would reject the Messiah one day and there would be great, great conflict in their life until their self-will could be broken.

A Vision of Conflict – Part 3b (Daniel 11:36-45)

Dr. Wayne Barber

What a terrible time it will be for Israel during the time known as the tribulation, when the Antichrist will be on this earth. And if it’s anytime soon, friend, it might be that the Antichrist is alive even while I’m speaking right now.

A Vision of Conflict – Part 4 (Daniel 11:36-12:4)

Dr. Wayne Barber

Now the focus shifts from the Antichrist to the people of Israel as they’re going through this difficult time. It’s during this reign of terror, this seven year period of tribulation, more specifically the last three and a half years, when it gets so bad on this earth.

Final Instructions for the Last Days – Part 1 (Daniel 12:4-9)

Dr. Wayne Barber

You start studying prophecy friend, pretty soon, if you believe it, you’re going to have to get your act straight. You’re going to have to start watching what you’re saying about other people. You’re going to have to start watching how you’re living around other people. Jesus is watching and Jesus is coming. That’s what prophecy will do for you.

Final Instructions for the Last Days – Part 2 (Daniel 12:10-13)

Dr. Wayne Barber

If you’ve been studying very faithfully along with us, it’s doing something in your mind that you don’t realize. Many people think that you study the Word of God just to have facts about God. No, that’s not right. You study the Word of God so that you can be changed by the Word. You know God through the study of His Word.
