Should gurus be obeyed whether right or wrong?
A characteristic common to most cults is that the guru or leader requires unquestioning obedience on the part of the disciple. The disciple is to obey the guru just as he would obey God. Disobedience is cause for immediate expulsion from the spiritual community.*
It is frightening to realize that some followers of Eastern gurus have frankly admitted that they would do anything, even commit murder or suicide, if their guru told them to.* This is because the disciple must never hesitate or question the will of the guru. If the guru is God, then the guru must be obeyed as God.
Da Free John teaches:
When I approach you, I ask you for this, I ask you for that….I ask you for everything. The longer you stay with me, the more things I will ask you for. I will ask you for all of it. You must yield everything to me. You must yield yourself in every function. Your very cells must yield. Only then are you fit for the Divine Yoga….*
