What does astrology believe is man’s basic problem and its solution?
Most astrologers believe the problem of man is that he is out of harmony with the divine forces and energies of the universe. He must become united with this harmony. And therefore, for many astrologers, salvation is not forgiveness from sin (most astrologers do not believe in sin in a biblical sense) but rather an enlightenment as to the underlying divine pattern they say governs the universe. “Salvation” is becoming aware of the powerful effect of these celestial patterns. Many astrologers believe that through a “higher consciousness,” which is supposedly a joining with the divine evolutionary “impulse,” that this will eventually bring a mystical Oneness with what they call “God” or ultimate reality. Astrologer Dane Rudhyar has written of the one who accepts astrology, “he learns to identify his consciousness and will with the ‘celestial’ patterns and rhythms.” He goes on to say that the person “becomes one with the principles of universal order, which many call ‘God’”*
On the other hand, the Bible teaches that we are rebellious creatures who willfully ignore God and commit endless sins. Salvation is a free gift that delivers us from God’s wrath against our sin and is based on our believing Christ died for us and receiving this gift by faith (Jn. 3:16; Rom. 5:1-10; Eph. 1:7; 2:8-9; 1 Pet. 2:24).
In addition, most astrologers also believe in reincarnation (one survey revealed about 75% of astrologers believe this* ). Reincarnation teaches that over many lifetimes men will die and come back to life and eventually evolve back into the state of their original oneness with God.
