How involved is the U.S. military in psychic research and application?

Recent news programs and TV specials, as well as official confirmation by the U.S. government, indicate that the American military has been deliberately involved in the investigation and application of psychic abilities for over two decades. In part, this was a response to serious Soviet investigation into occult powers and abilities for military application. Soviet interests over the years have included work on telepathic hypnosis, how to induce death psychically, psychokinetic applications and much more.*

According to one TV program, U.S. military officials stated that in the American research, there had been “a number of remarkable successes over the years.” Essentially, for some 25 years, Congress has funded CIA/Pentagon studies in psychic abilities, such as remote viewing or the alleged ability to psychically see events at a distance. The application of such an ability to espionage is obvious. Powerful psychic Ingo Swann was one of those studied, and it was claimed that he had an 85 percent success rate in remote viewing. Shockingly, the Defense Intelligence Agency actually used possessed mediums and channelers in its research. Even some congressmen were said to have sought out the advice of the spirits speaking through these channelers. Those with psychokinetic powers and crystal gazers were also employed. In fact, the U.S. military has called on psychics for some very major operations, including the gathering of covert information on Iraq and Lybia.*
