How is Jehovah's Witnesses' Jesus different than the Jesus of the traditional Christian faith? - Ankerberg Theological Research Institute, John Ankerberg Show

How is Jehovah’s Witnesses’ Jesus different than the Jesus of the traditional Christian faith?

A John Ankerberg Show viewer asks: “How is Jehovah’s Witnesses’ Jesus different than the Jesus of the traditional Christian faith?”

This is a great question! The Jesus of traditional, historical Christian faith was by nature God and took on human nature at the incarnation. Even after the resurrection and ascension He continues to be fully God and fully human.

According to the Watchtower (Jehovah’s Witnesses) God created Michael the Archangel who in turn created everything else. Michael then ceased to exist and God created the human Jesus in Mary’s womb. Jesus was only a man but was “powered” by Michael’s electricity (which they call a life force). When Jesus died he ceased to exist and according to the Watchtower is “dead forever dead.” They teach that God then recreated Michael in heaven which they sometimes call Jesus. There is no personal connection between the 3 versions of Jesus/Michael/Jesus the Jehovah’s Witnesses teach and it is clearly a different Jesus than we find in Scripture or that has been taught historically.
