What do I say to Jehovah’s Witnesses at my door? - Ankerberg Theological Research Institute, John Ankerberg Show

What do I say to Jehovah’s Witnesses at my door?

A John Ankerberg Show viewer asks: “What do I say to Jehovah’s Witnesses at my door?”

Quite a few questions came in which are basically the same. “What do I say to Jehovah’s Witnesses when they come to my door?” It is important to understand that when the Jehovah’s Witnesses come to your door they are under fairly tight time constraints. This is because they tend to be out in a group and only have a short time at each door. They are not really there to engage in deep discussion or debate but to try to create interest in order to set up a study or invite you to the Kingdom Hall. Whatever you do, you should be kind. You can do a simple thing like give your testimony that you have been born again, confessed Jesus as fully God who died and raised Himself from the dead to secure your forgiveness of sins. This may be the only gospel presentation they receive. Another option which I prefer, is to let them know that their timing is inconvenient. That is generally always true because they tend to come at inconvenient times. Ask if they could come back at set up a time a couples of weeks in the future for an hour or two. Let them know that you do have questions and want to give them your undivided attention. There are good material you can use to prepare yourself in advance or you can contact me in advance and we can talk though topics and I can send you documentation. Prayer and preparation is important and it will require a time investment on your part but it is a mission field coming to your door.
