This month I have some serious decisions to make here at the ministry, and I’d like to ask for your input. You know that in Mark 16 Jesus commanded us to:
“Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.”
In Matthew 28 Jesus said, “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations…”
The Bible tells us God loves people around the world and wants them to have the opportunity to hear the gospel of how Jesus came and died for them on the cross. He will forgive their sins the moment they trust Him to do so.
Then throughout their life and all eternity they will be able to know and enjoy Him. God has given us the calling to bring the gospel message to the entire world.
When Jesus gave His life to pay for our sins, He established a new covenant between God and us. What is the new covenant? Notice four things God promises in Hebrews 8:10-12 that He will do for anyone who puts their faith in Jesus:
“I will put My laws in their mind and write them on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people…for all shall know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them. For I will forgive their evildoing, and I will remember their sins no more.”
God promises to place His laws on our hearts, make Himself known to us in an intimate way, and grant a forgiveness to us so complete that no memory of our misdeeds will remain in His mind: “He will remember our sins no more.”
Do you realize God promises He has forgiven you of all your sins? Do you realize He does not even remember them? You are His son or daughter whom He loves. Do you believe that?
How does a person enter into this new covenant with God? The Apostle Paul says it is by faith in Jesus alone:
“For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus” (Galatians 3:26).
“We … know that a person is not justified by the works of the law, but by faith in Jesus Christ. So we, too, have put our faith in Christ Jesus that we may be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law, because by the works of the law no one will be justified” (Galatians 2:16).
When a person admits they are a sinner, and puts their faith in Jesus’ substitutionary death for them, God graciously saves them—no matter what they have done.
This is the gospel—the very good news that we can have peace and forgiveness with God and enjoy His power in our lives. This gospel is what God wants us to take to people in all parts of the world so they can be saved.
Taking the Gospel to the Unreached
As I said, I am facing some important decisions this month and need your help. During the last few years, many opportunities to present the gospel on television to people in nations around the world have come to us. We have now come to a point where we cannot add another network until we have the funds to do so.
Here is what is happening.
Last year we began broadcasting on television across India in Hindi, Telugu, and Tamil. In December, we began broadcasting to over one billion viewers in Europe, Africa, Asia, and Australia in prime time in English on God TV.
In February we signed contracts to begin broadcasting in the Russian and Ukrainian languages on a Russian television network called CNL that covers all 11 time zones of Russia, plus Europe, and Asia.
We have also begun working with the Far East Broadcasting Company to translate our programs into Vietnamese and Indonesian for those countries.
But now, let me tell you about the new countries and languages where we have not yet gone ahead.
Spanish is the next big language group we believe God wants us to reach. We’ve already been preparing to do this and actually have six months of television broadcasts translated into Spanish. Now we need to raise the money to pay for the airtime on Spanish networks.
Right now, there is one large Spanish television network that has opened the door for us to broadcast on Sunday nights at 9 PM Eastern across the United States as well as throughout Latin America. I would like to take this network right away.
We have also been talking to people in France for close to two years. They have a network that broadcasts across Europe, North Africa, and the Middle East in French. They have invited us to broadcast on Sunday nights at 8:30 PM Paris time. They have also lowered their airtime rates for us and I would like to take advantage of their offer.
Further, there is a Christian Arabic network that broadcasts to over 200 million homes in the Middle East and North Africa—all in Arabic. I think you know how much the gospel is needed in these areas.
The door is also open to translate our programs into Hebrew. We’ve been offered airtime to broadcast across Israel and the Middle East to Jewish people who speak this language. Would you like to see this happen?
In February we also made contact with Chinese Christians who broadcast in Taiwan and Hong Kong, as well as parts of China. We have had many Chinese people using our website and would like to minister in this language on television.
Finally, we have also met with a Christian Korean network that broadcasts worldwide. Because they have such a large outreach, this is a very exciting opportunity.
How You Can Help
Now here is where I need you to tell me what you think we should do: Should we take these networks? Would you pledge a few dollars a month to one of these people groups? How can it be done? What do we need?
Would you be one of those who would commit to giving $100 a month? If 2,000 people reading this letter would do so, we could take all of these networks. Or maybe you could be one of those who would give $50 a month. Then we would need 4,000 people to take all of these networks. What is your advice to me? What does your heart say? What would you be willing to do?
This is where we must wait until we hear from you. All I can tell you is the door is open. If you will help us, our ministry will go into these countries and languages and present the gospel.
We all know God wants us to serve him with what He has given us. And I know you are already doing that in many areas. If you believe it would be pleasing to God for you to help us reach into these new parts of the world to present and defend the gospel then I’d like to ask you to let me know this month. Every gift of whatever size is important and God will use it.
Why monthly? Once we begin a contract on a television station or network, we need to pay for the airtime every month. I need to know you will be faithful to stand with us. So my question is this, “Will you be one of those who help us this month so we can take advantage of these open doors?”
Changing Lives Together
35 years ago I began this ministry with the hope that as many people as possible would know the gospel and how to defend it. Today two-thirds of the people on the planet can watch our programs on television, along with anyone with an Internet connection, tablet, or smart phone. You have helped us do that, and I hope you realize how important your partnership is to God, to us, and to those you reach.
Together, we are helping transform lives like Sanjani, a woman who recently prayed to receive Christ in India after watching our program.
Jose recently discovered our online Spanish resources and wrote, “I thought, this is heaven! The need is just so great for these materials! We need sound doctrine in Spanish.”
Tamara also recently prayed to receive Christ through our online outreach and asked for our assistance in choosing her first Bible. What a blessing!
Paul in India contacted us to let us know he had just prayed to place his faith in Christ after watching our program.
Your prayers and generous financial gifts make this possible. I look forward to how God leads you to partner with us this month to reach people with the gospel.
For the sake of the Gospel,
Dr. John Ankerberg
